I'M TOTALLY INFATUATED WITH A GUY WHO I KNOW DOES LIKE ME THANKS TO MY FRIENDS. WHAT DO I DO.....?

I went to school with a guy when i was younger and totally liked him back then. he then moved to a different town but i never forgot him. He then got my number and started texting me. We had been texting for about 2 years then one of my mates got his number saying i liked him and wanted to go out with him she asked him to go out with me and he said no. Ever since then he won't talk to me at all and the mate has got worst texting him saying stuff i said about him (all good) but that was private and he won't even say why he won't text me and i just really want to talk to him please help me. By the way he is in my town every weekend but everytime I see him he doesn't respond. please help i'm desperate to talk to him.
