Whats the Best Brand of Tequila? Vodka?

I went to the liquor store and I was gonna get Grey Goose and Jose Cuervo...the man told me that I was just buying the name brand...according to him (and in theore he should know his stuff...)) balinoff is ebtter because it is distilled seven times, and montezuma gold tastes better, as opposed to Jose Cuervo which tastes like gasoline...apparently...what do you guys think?
